i should most definitely be studying for my exam in art history on monday. however, the brilliant sun has inspired me to write about how absolutely and extraordinarily happy i am at this very moment in time. shouldn't my happiness be documented when i am feeling it so that i am able to come back to it when i need it again?? that's my thought process at least.
this day is glorious and brilliant and beautiful and i am ever so grateful for it. i like thursdays because i am able to leisurely go about my day. no class, no immediate demands to take hold of me. it is a day for reflection of the week and for the appreciation of the wonderful pieces that fit together to make up my life. it's almost as if my complete and total feeling of happiness will consume me entirely. i feel as though i am so happy about my life that i could burst. and i'm a few seconds from being frightened by it. and i can't say why i am feeling like this. i can say there are the small aspects i am appreciating. the soy mint mocha latte that i had today. the long talk with my mom while sitting on a bench on the quad. the appreciation i have for this campus and these buildings and this life. people watching. leisure time. the sun shining. the way the sun streamed into my window and created the most beautiful patterns on my bed this morning...
i can't think about it any longer because i will surely burst. i hope that your day is just as grand as mine has been. and i hope that you will take a few moments to appreciate this spectacular life. and i hope that wherever you are the sun is shining just as vividly so that you can be thankful for its warmth and its sense of hope.

my thoughts on media depend on what media you want to talk about. i don't think media is filled with happiness as my thoughts are.
i think media (news, film, television) is put forth by large corporate conglomerates with specific agendas. i think that images in popular media depict essentialized images of race, gender, and class that are unfair, harmful, offensive, and degrading.
