dear prudence

i had the privilege of watching across the universe with jess (one of my wonderful roommates) last night. it was not as wonderful as i expected it to be, however, i found it amazingly enjoyable. we were intending on watching half of the film and then finishing it today because it was so late when we began, but the film was so very intriguing. i couldn't seem to take my eyes off of it. now, i am normally a fan of songs that are redone (mostly in the moulin rouge sort of manner), but this was just captivating. the artisitic vision of the film was enough to keep any ADD ridden child in check for a few hours. perhaps, it is just the perfect combination for me. it featured a somewhat tragic love story based around songs by the beatles, sung in almost an acoustic manner, and it involved protesting and the 60's. these are all favorites of mine and it did not fail to charm me. i was slightly disappointed that lucy in the sky with diamonds was saved for the end credits, but i can get over that. let it be, strawberry fields forever, and hey jude were among my favorite renditions. i cannot wait to watch the film again.
